History

CUI was established in 1984 by John Rooney & William Tooher. Both were 28 year veterans of AT&T and Bell system. At the time of retirement from AT&T John was a second level manager responsible for overseeing the installation of all business telephone equipment in the Southeastern New England area. Bill was the assistant to the vice president in charge of new technology training for New England Telephone. They set out to bring quality-personalized service back to the telecommunications industry, something they both felt had been lost with the break up of the Bell system. John & Bill have always shared a sense of community & have devoted time to various charity driven organizations including Rotary, the Lyons Club, & the Knights of Columbus. John is one of the founders of the House of Hope and was instrumental in the organizations rise as one of the most successful nonprofits in the state serving homeless people with outreach services, food, shelter, & adult education. In 1996 John passed on the running of the day to day operation of CUI to his son Kevin Rooney. Kevin has been working at CUI since 1986 & shares the same business principals as John & Bill. CUI located at 3194 Post Road in Warwick RI since 1985 has grown to 14 employees, including 8 full time technicians, a full time customer trainer, dispatch/work coordinator, office manager, and 3 account executives. The Technical staff are all state licensed, factory trained & fully employed by CUI.
